The Mission of Home of Guiding Hands is to provide quality services, training and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities, their families, and others who will benefit. By providing comfortable, friendly living environments with varying levels of support and training and 24-hour care and supervision, residents are able to live, work and play in an everyday home setting. HGH operates its homes under the regulations of the State Departments of Social Services and Health Services. Our new home in Encinitas is looking for Residential Behavior Technicians for various shifts to support the every day life of our residents.

Residential Behavior Technician – Encinitas
Primary Purpose/Responsibilities: Teach skills and provide support in all activities of daily life to include: communication, socialization and leisure, personal hygiene, meal prep, household chores, budgeting, safety and medication dispensing to developmentally disabled children. Provides individualized, quality, 1 on 1 care to children in an environment which promotes their rights, dignity, and freedom of choice; implements programs and services as specified in the children’s individualized service plan; completes accurately all reports, data collection, and other information documenting the care and services provided in keeping with licensing regulations and Agency policies.

Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
•        A minimum of 6 months previous experience providing services to children with developmental, learning, behavioral, or physical disabilities is a must
Education
•        High School diploma or GED required. College education in the field of social services preferred.
•        Read, write and understand the English language.
Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with children, co-workers, neighbors, volunteers, vendors and the general public.
•        Possess high degree of patience and the ability to tolerate frustrating situations.
•        Able to multi-task and manage work time efficiently.
•        Able to see, talk, hear, walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 30 pounds or less repeatedly during a shift.
•        Able to physically lift and transfer a person using a mechanical device and/or with the help of another person. Occasionally lift over 50 lbs.
•        Able to lawfully and safely drive an agency vehicle in all traffic situations and weather conditions.
•        Able to perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, bed-making,meal prep, cooking and housecleaning

Other:
•        Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
•        Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test within 24 hours of a job offer.
•        Must pass a pre-employment health screening/TB Test; and annually thereafter.
Have a criminal records clearance from DHS and/or DSS (Live Scan fingerprinting).
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, proof of safe driving record (current
•        DMV report required), and have 18 months of licensed driving experience.
•        Must pass vehicle transportation training and an “observed” road test annually.
•        Must complete all other required new hire training including CPR/First Aid.
•        Must maintain confidentiality of child Protected Health Information (PHI)used for treatment, payment, health care, etc. and personal information of children.

General Inforomation:
•        Full Time or Part Time positions open        
•        Full Time eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision & other Benefits including Tuition Reimbursement
•        Pay: $11.00/hr
•        Shifts: 6:00am to 2:00pm                                                                
2:00pm to 10:00pm
10:00pm to 6:00am
