Program Mission: The Seattle Goodwill (SGW) Job Training and Education Program is a community
based training and education program funded primarily by Seattle Goodwill. SGW programs provide
retail training, job skills, reading, writing, English as a Second Language, math, and computer literacy to
the residents of the communities we serve.

Position Description: Responsible for classroom instruction, prepare lectures, keep regular office hours,
administer examinations, grade papers, attend staff meetings and collect data as it pertains to students
progress. Provide participant progress evaluations and document it at the end of sessions.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities

Job Requirements:

. Teach classes up to 20 hours per week.
. Ability to teach basic and advance computers.
. Provide tutoring support and feedback to students.
. Must be able to simplify complex ideas.
. Must be able to teach students who may not have any formal education.
. Must be passionate about helping students learn.
. Oversee the work of volunteers, classroom aids and student teachers.
. Present special lectures, seminars, and workshops as requested.
. Keep student records and data to track student progress.
. Must have ability to teach retail skills.
Reports To: JTE Specialist

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

Education and Experience

. Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of
experience and education.
. Minimum three years of formal or informal teaching experience.
. Flexible hours.
. Strong organizational skills must be able to multi-task and deal with multiple, sometimes
conflicting, deadlines.
. Must be flexible, and have the ability to work in an environment with very diverse groups of
people.

. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal, plus the ability to
interact with a wide variety of people, including those with limited English. Internal/ external
customer service skills. Listening skills.
. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, plus the ability to learn new software as appropriate and
necessary to the job.

Essential Job Functions

Able to safely lift/push/ pull up to 25 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor
functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Ability to work in cramped areas/ small spaces. Able to communicate with
others effectively, verbally and in writing: including assistance. Maintain reliable attendance.

Terms of Employment

This is a part time non- exempt position. Criminal background check and drug test will be conducted on prospective
employees. Annual Salary DOE Seattle Goodwill offers comprehensive employee benefits.
