DIRECTOR OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
Application deadline: Until filled-Computer Technology-Duties: Responsible for computer & technology program administration for all City of Salina & some Saline County functions; provides direct supervision of departmental staff including support services & technical support; oversees hardware & software procurement; responsible for short & long-range technology planning; develops & manages the Computer Technology budget & fund expenditures; provides technical assistance to staff, users & administration about computer processing, implementation & maintenance of software systems. Education: Bachelors degree in computer science or related field preferred. Experience: Five years experience with computer systems & personal computer networks; direct supervisory experience. FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC
Applications accepted for hiring pool-Fire Department- Duties: Provides advanced life support services & renders medical treatment in emergency situations; engages in fire suppression & fire prevention activities to protect & safeguard lives & property. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Certification Requirements: National Registry or Kansas Paramedic certification & maintain certification including current Advanced Pediatric Life Support Certification & ACLS; Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within prior year; current written Fire Service Exam with a score of 70% or better within the prior two years; Firefighter 1 & 2 with Hazmat Operations certifications in the State of Kansas or equivalent International Fire Service Training Association with International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board Certification; NIMS 100,200,700,800. POLICE OFFICER
Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Protecting, serving, & working with Salinas diverse citizenry & enforcing the law while protecting the constitutional rights of all. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Qualifications include: United States citizen; twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment; no felony convictions, domestic violence related conviction, or other serious misdemeanor convictions; good physical condition; eyesight: 20/100 correctable to 20/20, no upper acuity limit with contact lenses; ability to obtain Kansas Police Officer certification within one year of appointment. Selection process includes: Written test, three assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analysis examination, thorough background check, physical examination, & drug screen. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess valid Kansas drivers license. Successful candidates are prohibited from smoking or using tobacco products at any time, on or off the job. Written test is held the 3rd Saturday of each month. Starting pay: $43,472-48,689/yr. FIREFIGHTER / EMT

ARTS SERVICES COORDINATOR
Application deadline TH 12/19/2019- Arts & Humanities-Duties: Develops & oversees visual arts programs such as the fine art, craft, installation sculpture & craft demonstration areas of the Smoky Hill River Festival; coordinates projects & public awareness of work related to the public art program; helps provide professional development programming for artists; serves as a visual arts resource partner to artists, cultural organizations, & community; recruits & trains Festival arts volunteers. Education: Bachelor's degree in the arts, arts education, arts management, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of three years experience in arts management, arts administration, visual arts programming or a related field. Requirements: Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license. Hours: Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Anticipated start date at the end of January 2020). Starting pay: $36,088-$40,419 (Full pay range: $36,088-$57,616)

WATER PLANT SUPERVISOR
Application deadline: Until filled- Duties: Supervises the operation & maintenance of the City of Salinas Water Treatment Plant; performs a wide variety of work in the operation & maintenance of water treatment facilities, including lime softening water treatment plant, wells, booster pump stations, water storage facilities, & river intake; supervises 12-15 water plant operators & personnel; prepares employee shift schedules & work assignments; evaluates personnel performance as required; assists in preparing, analyzing, & filing of paper & digital operational, state, & federal reports; assists in long-range planning, budget preparation, & budget control; utilizes computer based software as necessary to complete assignments; administers safety program; investigates accidents & recommends preventative actions; acts as liaison with maintenance, laboratory, & operations personnel to assure the treated water meets established standards of quality. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.; must possess a Kansas Class IV Water Supply System Operator Certificate, or be able to obtain certification within one (1) year after Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE) examination eligibility. Experience: Five (5) years of progressive experience in lime softening water treatment or related work preferred; two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess a valid Kansas drivers license. Starting pay: $20.04-22.45/hr. (Full pay range: $20.04-31.98/hr.)

UTILITY WORKER I
Application deadline: Until filled-Utilities-Duties: Performs semi-skilled & skilled labor in the maintenance & operation of a water distribution & transmission system/wastewater collection system; performs minor electrical & mechanical maintenance; maintains wastewater pumps, motors & controls; installs, repairs, cleans, taps, fits & inspects wastewater/water pipelines; installs & repairs wastewater/ water valves, manholes, & fire hydrants; installs & repairs chemical feed pumps & piping; performs custodial work such as cleaning, painting, lawn mowing & snow removal. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Two years maintenance of mechanical & electrical equipment, or related work preferred. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess a valid Kansas Class A commercial drivers license (CDL) with air brakes & tanker endorsements, or obtain within three months of appointment. Work Type: Heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. & after-hours calls. Starting pay: $16.49-18.47/hr. (Full pay range: $16.49-26.30/hr.)

911 DISPATCHER
Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Responsible for dispatching all police, sheriff, fire, & ambulance operations in the city & county; operates a two-way communications system; monitors a computerized emergency system; types a variety of data into a computerized database. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: In-service training program; typing speed 40 WPM minimum. Requirements: Must be minimum twenty-one (21) years of age; must live within 40 minutes response time; must successfully complete in-service training program in communications related curriculum; must pass selection process that includes assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analyzer examination, & thorough background checks. Hours: Twelve hour shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with every other weekend off. Examination: Mandatory completion of computerized Dispatcher examination. ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
Application deadline: TH 12/19/2019-Parks & Recreation/Animal Shelter-Duties: Enforces & applies ordinances & regulations pertaining to animal control; maintains the animals housed at the Salina Animal Shelter; investigates & conducts interviews on possible law, ordinance & regulation violations; testifies in court & at hearings on animal control matters; conducts inspections of animal facilities; issues licenses & permits for dogs & cats; provides public education on ordinances, regulations & animal care methods/techniques; apprehends stray animals; conducts various tasks in animal care and control. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.; must obtain Level I & II National Animal Control Association Academy training. Experience: One year animal care experience in animal shelter, veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or other related area & strong customer service skills preferred. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess a valid Kansas drivers license. Hours: Shifts vary: 4 x 10 hour shifts/week including nights, weekends & holidays; shifts may start at 5 am & responds to overnight calls. Starting pay: $14.98-16.78/hr. (Full pay range: $14.98-23.92/hr.)

SANITATION WORKER / DRIVER
Application deadline: Until filled-Public Works/Sanitation-Duties: Performs heavy manual labor in the collection of refuse and/or recycling materials; operates medium equipment & heavy duty trucks including refuse/recycling trucks & other trucks over 27 ton capacity; dumps refuse carts; lifts heavy cans of refuse; picks up brush with brush truck; makes special pick-ups for discarded furniture & other refuse; keeps track of time for billing customers; checks oil; washes trucks; performs minor repairs to equipment used; cleans inside of garage; makes repairs to refuse carts; prepares minimal records of own activities; supervises & uses equipment of materials requiring care to assure against breakdown; snow & ice removal. Education: Eighth grade graduate. Experience: One year sanitation work or experience with small trucks & light equipment in construction, maintenance, or related activities; must be able to work outside in all weather conditions; heavy manual labor & outside work experience desired. Requirements: Must possess valid Kansas Class B commercial drivers license (CDL) with air brake endorsement; must be able to perform heavy manual labor & run designated routes; must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Work Type: Heavy manual labor, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds for force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Starting pay: $13.58-15.21/hr. (Full pay range: $13.58-21.68/hr.)

PERMIT TECHNICIAN I
Application deadline: TH 12/12/2019-Community & Development Services-Duties: Performs administrative support functions related to the acceptance, review, distribution, & issuance of building permits; monitors status of pending permits; answers phone & responds to questions regarding basic code & permit requirements; performs data entry & maintenance of electronic files, documents, & spreadsheets related to plan review & permit issuance; processes permit payments & balances receipts; schedules & coordinates interim permit inspections; assists inspection staff in the property maintenance inspection & documentation process; manages contractor testing application records; assists the staff liaison in maintaining records & minutes for the Building Advisory Board; manages the records involved with court cases. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER
Application deadline: Until filled-Public Works/Streets & Traffic-Duties: Performs a variety of unskilled & semi-skilled manual labor in the construction & maintenance of streets, storm sewers, buildings & other municipal facilities; drives various types of trucks & operates light construction equipment; lays & rakes asphalt; performs & assists in carpentry, including construction of forms, concrete work, painting & minor welding; responds to weather & other emergencies; snow & ice removal. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: One year construction or maintenance work preferred. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess Kansas Class B commercial drivers license (CDL) with air brakes & tanker endorsements, or must be able to obtain CDL within three (3) months from the start date of employment. Work Type: Very heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Hours: Workweek generally Monday - Friday. Starting pay: $12.94-14.49/hr. (Full pay range: $12.94-20.65/hr.)

MUSEUM ASSISTANT (PART-TIME)
