Title: Psychologist Job ID: JS570396368Location: Delano, CAUnder the direction of the Senior Psychologist, Supervisor, and/or the regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Chief of Mental Health (CME) or designee, as the Psychologist, you will provide clinical support and evaluations of Patients in the determination of whether they meet criteria as a Mentally Disordered Offender (MDO). The MDO Program supports Mental Health Services Delivery System (MHSDS) treatment programs by dedicating clinical staff or Penal Code 2960 through 2981 mandated MDO Evaluations. Substantial travel is required. You shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for Psychologists performing MDO Program services, in accordance with Institution policies and procedures.Responsibilities:Conduct mental health evaluations including, but not limited to, MDO (PC 2962), by following a standardized evaluation format and include in the MDO evaluation, specific data to meet MDO evaluation requirements, and apply the date found in reviewed documents and received from their clinical interview of the Patients to form a professional opinion, if MDO criteria are met or not, in the MDO evaluation, and comply with the administrative procedures and time frames of MDO evaluation and chrono submissions.Review inmate central files and health records at institutions to obtain comprehensive background information regarding criminal and mental health histories; conduct forensic mental health examinations of Patients for the purpose of determining Patient’s level of dangerousness and the need for Patient mental health treatment. Prepare initial mental health evaluation reports, either by dictation or in written form, based on review of Patient’s records and direct examinations of Patient; transcribes reports into final form; reviews and confirms final reports for correctness and accuracy.Attend training on mental health evaluation processes and procedures and participate in relevant consultations with Senior Psychologist.Understand that his or her work will be monitored and, at times, be observed by the Senior Supervising Psychologist.As needed, attend court hearings regarding these Patient reports and clinical determinations to provide additional clinical clarification; and provide other related information as may be required to assist the Court Certificate Hearings process.Other duties as required.Qualifications:12 continuous months of experience within the last 3 years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein, in a public or private institution internship does not count towards the required experience.Must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively with CCHCS/CDCR. Must be able to speak, understand oral and written communication, and write effectively, in the English language. Have been trained by CDCR within the previous 12 months on how to write MDO evaluations. Those who have not received this training within the previous 12 months shall receive this approximately two-hour-long training before they begin evaluating patients. This training, which shall be given by a Senior Supervising Psychologist, may be given as a webinar. Provider shall receive no payment for this training.Have conducted MDO evaluations for the State of California within the last five years.Possess and maintain throughout the term of this Agreement, a current and valid license, issued by the California Board of Psychology, in order to perform services in the State of California.For more information about TEEMA and to consider other career opportunities, please visit our website at
