Sr. Electronics Engineer ? New Product Development

Sr. Electronics Engineer – New Product DevelopmentReports to: VP Engineering and New Product DevelopmentLocation: Santa Fe Springs, CAJob Description:The Sr. Electronics Engineer will lead the development efforts of new products and will support existing products through their full life-cycle. You will build industrial products that will based on business priorities and market conditions, taking the design from product requirements through the various design stages. You will deliver clear design plans and schedules collaborating closely with fellow design engineers, product managers, project managers, and leadership. As a Sr. Engineer, you will take complete ownership of your work and mentor / coach other engineers in their technical growth.To succeed in this role, you will have proven experience leading the design efforts of several successful electrical and/or electro-mechanical products from idea to commercialization. You will have strong technical knowledge on how to build robust and efficient electronic systems, including firmware and various communication protocols. You will be a strong team player and actively seek to resolve complex technical design and customer challenges. Preferred experience includes a strong knowledge of the oil & gas industry including process instrumentation, corrosion / material science, and digital product lines.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Conceptualize, design, test, document, manufacture, and validate product designsAssist in the development of engineering plans and costs for complex engineering projectsSchedule and monitor your performance of projects against those plansProvide engineering support to customers, manufacturing, sales, and servicesVisit customer and vendor facilities as required in the development of new or existing productsPerform root cause analysis and initiate Corrective and Preventive Actions as appropriateDevelop, implement and document changes to current products to improve quality and/or lower costs. Optimize manufacturability of productsManage obsolescence of assigned productsMake recommendations for new products, improved products, manufacturing and supplyDesign and implement test and validation procedures for new and existing products per documented proceduresAssist in training junior engineering staff in current product designs and applicationsRequired Competencies:Knowledge of industrial embedded systems and communications (digital)Knowledge of low power / voltage instrumentation design (analog)Software: PCB design schematic and layout software, C/C++ language programmingWorks well in teams, including a sense of urgency and commitment to deadlinesPassion for continuous improvement and internal and external customer satisfactionPosition Requirements:BS degree in electrical engineering. Advance degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years experience in the design of electrical, electronic or process control equipmentPreferred Experience:Designing for hazardous locations including (ATEX, CSA, UL, others)FCC/CE and Radio CertificationsCustomer and 3rd party inspectionsProcess instrumentation for oil and gas / chemical applicationsCorrosion monitoring equipment or similar technologyDesigning for global marketsKnowledge: RoHS, 4-20mA, Modbus, HART, Wireless HART, ISA100, OPC, LoRa, I2C, SerialSoftware: PADS, MP Lab, Auto Desk, Python, Java, C#, Android, LinuxCompensation:Base salary DOECompetitive benefits package including medical, dental, life, disability and 401(K)
