Sr. Security Advisor

Title: Sr. Security AdvisorJob ID: MK2805271028Overview:Our Client is seeking a full-time contract for the role of a Senior Information Security Systems Officer (Security Advisor) to coordinate all activities in support of functional priorities, such as strategic plans, initiatives, and organizational development processes. He/she will assist in maximizing the effective operation with respect to workflow, scheduling, teaming, budget, communications, and events.The Security Advisor acts as a principal aide to coordinate activities in support of priorities to include the development and implementation of functional and organizational processes and procedures in support of functional and organizational goals. This individual shall review team actions, create necessary ad hoc reports, lead briefings, creates presentations, and is responsible for responses to a variety of strategic issues. He/she shall provide operational guidance and develop detailed work plans for the completion of tasks while acting as lead for projects that are key to functional and strategic success. Will be the primary liaison with organization’s audit, compliance, privacy and regulatory functions. Individual shall also manage operational deliverable required to fulfill the audit reporting accountability.Things you need to have: Candidates will be evaluated principally on ability to demonstrate competencies described below. Typical work experience and educational background of candidates for role are as follows: Education/Certification:A four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field recognized in Canada. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) will be an advantage.Experience:8+ years of relevant work experience, including substantial work at a leadership or managerial level, preferably in Information Security including experience in cyber security risk management, a security incident response team, computer emergency response team, Security Operations Center (SOC), computer security incident response center etc.5+ years of experience in another IT function an advantage.5+ years of experience with regulatory compliance, cyber security frameworks and standards will be a definite advantage (e.g. IS027000, COBIT, NIST 800, etc.).Experience creating or maturing team development programs, within or outside information securityExtensive hands-on experience in cloud technologies will be a definite advantage.Experience in using architecture methodologies such as SABSA, Zachman and TOGAF will be an advantageHands-on experience managing security infrastructure such as firewalls, IPSs, WAFs, endpoint protection, SIEM and log management technologyKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Understanding of cyber security risk management and risk mitigation strategies.An understanding of information security fundamentals and general security technologies.Strategic planning skills: the SA must interpret business, technology and threat drivers, and develop practical security roadmaps to deal with these drivers.Communication skills will be required to translate complex security related matters into business terms, IT management and other organization colleagues. The Security Architect should anticipate presenting analysis both in person and in written formats and must have the ability to communicate project and technology risks effectively.Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, motivational, organizational, and planning skills.Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to take a practical approach to dealing with shifting priorities, demands and timelines.Strong negotiation skills to negotiate resources, changes, issues, budgets, and timelines.Excellent presentation skills, especially with senior executive audiences. What you will be doing:To be successful, the Information Security Systems Officer will:Collaborate with internal and external auditors to conduct compliance audits of security practices, policies, procedures and standards.Be the functional lead liaison with organization’s audit, compliance, privacy and regulatory functions.Manage operational deliverable required to fulfill the audit reporting accountability.Assist with the facilitation of governance through the implementation of the security governance program that not only matches the digital business objectives of client, but also responds to external extenuating factors and rapidly adapts to ensure risks to organization do not exceed tolerance levels.Prepare detailed operating and financial reports in support of strategic, operational and functional deliverable.Provide operational guidance to the team and working with the PM to develop detailed work plans for the completion of tasks while acting as lead for projects that are key to functional and strategic success. Participate in program status reviews with program sponsor in support of organization goals.Organize training and development initiatives for the security team.
